THANK YOU FOR YOUR HEART TO PRAISE
And He said, “Who told you that you were naked? Have you eaten
from the tree of which I commanded you that you should not eat?”
WHO TOLD YOU THAT YOU WERE NAKED?
This is a question that a lot of believers need to ask themselves today. Reading from the verses that preceed this verse we know that Adam and Eve had been tempted by the serpent in the garden. Listening to him, they ate of the tree which God had commanded them not to eat. This part of scripture is known by just about every one that has ever walked into the doors of a church, we all know the story. We just have to learn to discover the nuggets of gold that are revealed in the words.
I discovered one such nugget when I read Genesis 1: 25, which reveals something that I had never “Snapped too” before. It is right after Eve was created out of the rib of Adam and when he awoke the Lord brought Eve to Him.
And they were both naked, the man and his wife,
and they were not ashamed.
WE ARE CLOTHED WITH THE RIGHTEOUSNESS OF JESUS
Did you notice what I did? Adam and Eve were both naked, but not ashamed. No wonder the Lord God asked Him who told him he was naked. What happened when the righteousness was taken from them? They became ashamed of their nakedness. Before, they were still naked, physically but it did not produce shame or fear. Only when righteousness disappears are we ashamed and fearful.
This is the same attack that the enemy uses against us today, he will tell us that we are no longer righteous so that we become fearful and ashamed of the things that we have done. It produces condemnation in us and makes us run from the Lord. Brothers and Sisters there is some great news though, we are clothed in the righteousness of Jesus Christ Himself, never to be ashamed of ourselves, condemned for our actions or fearful of punishment again.
2 Corinthians 5:21
For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us,
that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.
In order to give us back our right standing with God, Jesus was made to be sin for us. He took all of the punishment that the law demanded for sin. The wrath of God was totally consumed in His body on our behalf. Now through faith in what He did on the cross for us, we are given the free gift of righteousness. Now when the same serpent tells you that you are naked, you can tell him that you are once again clothed in the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus. You are no longer ashamed, guilty or condemned. Instead you are accepted, beloved and unashamed to stand before Your heavenly Father because of what Jesus did at the cross.
Thank You and Be Blessed,
